Love it or hate it, the totally redesigned 2020 Polaris RZR Pro XP is here. This is what has dramatically changed on the 2020 Polaris RZR Pro XP from the older style RZR.
1
FRAME/CAGE: It’s made up with 2” main tubing with 1.75” cross braces. The frame is one piece and welded together while the 8-point cage is still bolted on and it comes with a rearview mirror mount, not the mirror. The wheelbase is six inches longer at 96” total helping with leg room and handling over the bumps.
2
SUSPENSION: The system is the same, but stronger in every way from the size of the tubing to the way it mounts to the frame. It’s very similar to the Turbo S components. Fox’s electronic Dynamix shocks are available on the Ultimate models while the other two get Walker Evans shocks. Travel 17” up front and 20” in the rear.
3
BODY: Lower front nose and higher back fenders, bigger doors and more light detail in front and rear. The entire machine weighs a bit more at 1736lbs dry (base). Under the car, the RZR now has a full coverage skid plate. Three versions are available priced at $22,499, $24,999 and $28,999. The car is available in two seat only at 64” wide with more versions to come soon.
4
INTERIOR: The dash is new with more storage, the grab handle is a better shape, easier to adjust and rattle free. The steering wheel has been upgraded both in style and function. It has buttons for accessories, tilts and telescopes. The dash has more blanks for extra switches and the power sitting behind the dash ready to plug into. The Ride Command (Ultimate model) has front/rear cameras as well as a buddy/group ride feature that works without cell service similar to the Trail Tech Voyager Pro.
5
SEATS: A total redesign; driver’s side is on rollers and a front mount allows for 3 positions of tilt. Leg room in front of the seat is more abundant and small details like toe pockets and dual dead peddles for the passenger make both sides very comfortable.
6
CARGO BOX: The box is now sealed except for two drain holes in the rear. The entire tray removes quickly with a few Torx bolts to access the engine. The plastic firewall behind the seats has to be removed to access the air filter. Under the passenger seat you will find a larger 12 gallon fuel tank with a straight fill hose for faster fueling.
7
ENGINE: The 2020 Polaris RZR Pro XP is only available as a turbo. It’s still a 925cc parallel twin Pro Star engine like before. However, the top end has been upgraded and now features a coolant system bleed valve to purge any trapped air in the water automatically. The ignition coil is now part of the spark plug cap. The turbo is larger and now liquid cooled, helping produce 181hp. The stator has 900 Watts of output. The radiator is still at the front of the car.
8
TRANSMISSION: Polaris claims, the gears are much beefier and its been outfitted with stronger Koyo bearings. The clutch uses roller pucks in the primary instead of the noisy metal sliders and more venting has been added to cool the belt. It’s been tuned to match the weight of the heavier car and more aggressive tires. Furthermore, the cover has built in keepers for the fasteners so they don’t fall out when you do have to remove it.
9
WHEELS/TIRES: Equal sized 30×10-14 aggressive Maxxis Carnivore tires are found on all corners. The hubs are new and the wheels are center less.. The front wheel is a 14X6 and the rear is a 14×7. Aftermarket wheels work fine on the new hub and it continues to use a 4/157 bolt pattern.
