CAN-AM MAVERICK X3 XD S TURBO RR

At $25,099, the 64-inch-wide X3 X ds Turbo RR is the lowest-priced 2021 195-horsepower Turbo RR-powered X3. HONDA

HONDA TALON 1000R/1000R FOX LIVE VALVE

Two versions of Honda’s 68.4-inch-wide sport machine, the Talon 1000R, are available for 2021—the base model with Fox QS3 compression-adjustable shocks and the new Fox Live Valve. Both have 17.7 inches of travel up front and 20.1 inches in the rear. Honda’s computer-controlled Fox Live Valve suspension delivers a smoother ride in slow and fast driving, and the system also offers better control and stability because it’s so aware and responds so quickly. Honda’s Live Valve suspension also offers two dashboard button-selectable modes—a comfort-focused standard mode and sport mode for fast driving.

Honda’s unique, geared, 6-speed transmission has no drive belt to wear or break, and it offers automatic and manual shifting modes, with sport and normal automatic shift programs, plus low and high range. The Live Valve model also has launch mode, which allows full throttle acceleration from a dead stop.

The RZR Trail S 1000 is a 60-inch-wide sport machine with a 100-horsepower, double-overhead-cam, eight-valve twin and a CVT with engine braking. This machine’s light weight lets it accelerate nearly as hard as the more powerful RZR XP 1000.

Double-A-arm front and rear suspension works with WER needle shocks to offer more than 12 inches of travel up front and 13.2 inches out back. Tool-less, knob-type compression-damping adjusters on the shocks make it easy to take advantage of the suspension’s adjustability.

The RZR S 1000 comes with power steering, painted bodywork and cast aluminum wheels. It also has quarter doors rather than nets and a roomy, comfortable cabin with good seats.

YAMAHA

YAMAHA YXZ1000R SS/SE/XT-R

The YXZ Sport Shift (SS) has a geared five-speed transmission with an automatic clutch rather than the belt-type CVTs found on most UTVs. You shift gears with sports car-type paddle shifters, and the system even automatically downshifts if you forget to. Upgraded pedals and paddle shifters improve control. Lower gearing; a revised shock and EPS tuning; 29-inch, 8-ply Bighorn tires on wheels with a 4/156-bolt pattern; a rear radiator and a new cage were added in 2019, making the YXZ faster and easier to drive in lower-speed, technical trails and wide-open western conditions. The SE gets high-end Fox Podium RC2 dual-spring shocks with adjustable crossovers, beadlock wheels, upgraded center and interior lighting, extra under-body protection, contrast-stitched seats, high-spec interior controls, a roof, rear-view mirror and Yamaha Black or White painted bodywork.

The XT-R model comes with all the cool stuff you get with the YXZ SS SE, plus Covert Green painted bodywork, upgraded lights, contrasting beadlock wheels, a custom front grab bar and Warn winch, a roof, contrast-stitched seats and Maxxis Carnage tires.
