CAN-AM MAVERICK X3 MAX X RS TURBO RR/SMART-SHOX

Can-Am’s new Maverick X3 Max X rs Turbo RR with Smart-Shox is a 195-horsepower, 72.7-inch-wide machine, and the only 2021 four-seat model available with Smart-Shox, Can-Am’s fully self-adjustable suspension technology. Smart-Shox is the only computer-controlled suspension in the industry that controls both compression and rebound damping. Smart-Shox technology makes real-time automatic suspension adjustments, improving vehicle stability and providing excellent control with flatter cornering. It reduces front and rear bouncing, while minimizing vehicle body movement, adjusting automatically to any type of terrain. The system offers three driving modes: Comfort, Sport or Sport+. The X rs has 22 inches of suspension travel front and rear using 2.5 front and 3.0 rear Fox Podium IBP shocks with Live Valves and Dynamic Damping Adjustment. The base X3 X rs Turbo RR has fully adjustable Fox RC2 shocks with 22 inches of travel.

Can-Am’s Turbo RR models are the most powerful 2021 Four-seat sport UTVs. The X3 X rs Turbo RR 3 cylinder, 900cc, 12 valve engine’s power advantage over X3 Turbo R models is achieved with a larger turbo, different  pistons, a less restrictive intake and bigger intercooler. An upgraded CVT cover quiets transmission noise. Turbo RR models also feature Can-Am’s Smart-Lok front differential. Smart-Lok has two toggles on the dash to select from four modes: 2×4, 4×4 fully locked, 4×4 Trail Active and 4×4 Trail. Also, there’s a four-way toggle for the digital readout. The X3 Max X rs Turbo RR comes with a new 850-watt alternator, beadlock wheels, a 7.6-inch lighted instrument display and a new Desert Tan color choice.

CAN-AM MAVERICK X3 MAX X DS TURBO RR

At $27,599, the 64-inch-wide X3 Max X ds Turbo RR is the lowest-priced, four-seat, 2021, 195-horsepower Turbo R-powered X3. Can-Am’s Turbo RR models are the most powerful 2021 Four-seat sport UTVs. The X3 Max X ds Turbo RR is also the lightest of the four-seat, 195-horsepower X3 Turbo RR models, which makes it the quickest-accelerating four-seat X3. Owners who want to tame the X3 for less-experienced drivers can replace the sport key with the standard key. The RR’s turbocharged, 3-cylinder, 900cc, 12-valve engine’s power advantage over 172-horsepower X3 Turbo R models is achieved with a larger turbo, different pistons, a less-restrictive intake and bigger intercooler. An upgraded CVT provides excellent drive-belt life. Turbo RR models also feature Can-Am’s Smart-Lok front differential Smart-Lok has two toggles on the dash to select from four modes: 2×4, 4×4 fully locked, 4×4 Trail Active and 4×4 Trail. Also, there’s a four-way toggle for the digital readout.

The X ds Turbo RR is better for tighter conditions than the 72-inch-wide X3s at the expense of some ability to handle high-speed whoops. With the longest wheelbase in its class, the X3 is still very stable at high speeds. It has 20 inches of travel front and rear using Fox 2.5 Podium RC2 shocks and 29-inch tires on 14-inch beadlock wheels.   Instrumentation is provided by a 7.6-inch lighted display. A new Desert Tan, Carbon Black and Can-Am Red color scheme is available for 2021.

HONDA

HONDA TALON 1000X-4/1000X-4 FOX LIVE VALVE

Honda’s four-seaters, the Talon 1000X-4 and Talon 1000X-4 Fox Live Valve join the 999cc, eight-valve, Unicam parallel-twin engine and beltless 6-speed transmission with automatic and manual modes to a  64-inch-wide chassis with a 28.8-inch-longer wheelbase than the Talon 1000X. The transmission features sport and normal shift programs, and high and low range. The Fox Live Valve model also has Launch mode that allows full-throttle acceleration from a standing start.

Honda’s computer-controlled Fox Live Valve suspension delivers a smoother ride in slow and fast driving, and the system also offers better control and stability because it’s so aware and responds so quickly. Sensors monitor the engine, transmission, steering, brakes, G-forces, and the vehicle’s angle and continuously adjust the suspension accordingly. The system firms the outside shocks during cornering, firms the front shocks during braking, and it even sets the suspension for smooth jump landings. In addition to instant automatic adjustability, Honda’s Live Valve suspension also offers two dashboard button-selectable modes, a comfort focused standard mode and sport mode for fast driving. The base model has Fox QS3 shocks with easy three position manual compression damping adjusters. Two-inch shock bodies are used on the front and 2.5-inch bodies on the rear. A roof is standard equipment on both models.

POLARIS RZR XP 4 TURBO

The 2021 RZR XP 4 Turbo is a 64-inch-wide sport machine powered by a turbocharged parallel twin with 168 horsepower. It has 16 inches of front suspension travel and 18 in the rear with compression and spring preload-adjustable Walker Evans needle shocks. Starting at $19,999 for 2021, $1000 less than last year, it’s an incredible performance value. The 2021 RZR XP 4 Turbo uses the RZR Pro XP’s clutch design, which features greater airflow and improved clutch alignment. The upgraded clutch operates cooler than the previous design, which improves drive-belt life. To handle its extra power, the XP Turbo also has a larger-capacity cooling system and a stronger driveline than non-turbo RZRs. The heavy-duty driveline includes larger rear-axle half-shafts, larger, tubular radius rods and an upgraded high-performance On-Demand AWD front diff. A new in-dash trickle-charge port adapter is also new for 2021. It allows a trickle charger to be connected to the vehicle, creating an easier, safer and more reliable way to maintain the battery while in storage. The XP Turbo features mean styling, a roomy interior, an easy-to-read digital instrument display, powerful LED headlights and a 900-watt charging system that easily handles popular accessories. The XP 4 Turbo’s quick-ratio power steering only takes 1.5 turns of the tilt wheel to go lock-to-lock. The 2021 RZR XP 4 Turbo is available in new Matte Sands Metallic or Ghost Gray color schemes.

POLARIS RZR XP 4 1000 HIGH LIFTER EDITION

The 2021 RZR XP 4 1000 High Lifter Edition is a 110-horsepower, 64-inch-wide sport machine that is specially equipped for mud riding. Standard equipment on the RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition includes snorkels for the engine and transmission, a mud-tuned CVT with 55-percent-lower gearing to turn its new-for-2021 30-inch Outlaw 2 mud tires, high-clearance lower A-arms and rear radius rods, heavy-duty front bumper, 4500-pound winch, and 15 inches of ground clearance. Stiffer shock springs and damping maintain the proper ride height when the mud is sticky, and all vent lines are integrated into the cab frame to keep them free of debris. An in-dash trickle-charge port adapter is also new for 2021. It allows a trickle charger to be connected to the vehicle, creating an easier, safer and more reliable way to maintain the battery while in storage.

Double-A-arm front suspension with 16 inches of travel and trailing-arm rear suspension with 18 inches of travel give the XP High Lifter Edition 1000 a smooth ride at cruising speeds and the ability to handle bumps and whoops at high speeds with impressive control. Orange and Ghost Gray painted bodywork, LED headlights, easy-to-read instrumentation and roomy interior make the XP 1000 a comfortable way to cover rough terrain in a hurry. LED accent lights and RZR XP Turbo S-like styling give the XP 4 1000 High Lifter Edition a distinctive, aggressive look.
