2022 KING OF HAMMERS: DATES, NEW CLASSES & SPECTATING INFO
2022 KING OF HAMMERS: DATES, NEW CLASSES & SPECTATING INFO
King of the Hammers has built itself into a holiday for off roaders. The week long takes place on BLM desert land in the Johnson Valley area of Southern California. Crews, spectators and racers from all over the country come to the event each year. In fact, last years winner Kyle Chaney, traveled all the way from the mid west to beat not only the locals, but some of the best rock and desert racers the sport has. If you are interested in racing or spectating the 2022 KOH, this article will help you plan for it.
Hammertown opens its main gates on January 21st. Ultra4 will release the course map and pre running will begin on Thursday the 27th. You must be registered to pre run. Friday, is your last chance to pre run the desert loop for the weekend as the track will go hot Saturday morning for the Toyo Tire Desert Challenge. UTV’s race in the desert on Sunday January 30th and in the rocks on Thursday February 3rd.
Entry to King of the Hammers is $40 which gets you into Hammertown all week including: three nights of live entertainment featuring LA Dueling Pianos Saturday January 29th and headliners such as Sublime with Rome (Feb 2) and Pennywise (Feb 5)! There will be a plethora of vendors and several big screen TVs will be available to watch all the action in the rocks in real-time, so bring a chair. Or if you have a truck or OHV you can ride to several areas along the course to watch in person. The spectator areas will be announced when the official map is released. You can purchase your spectator wrist band, hot pass or camper pass at HERE.
DIRECTIONS
From Los Angeles or the Inland Empire take Hwy 18 to or through Victor Valley towards Hwy 247 East and go 25 miles passed the town of Lucerne to Boon Rd. Follow the line of cars North to the lakebed and the entrance. From the East or South, head to Twentynine Palms, CA. or Yucca Valley, CA. and get on Hwy 247 at Yucca Valley and head West, 20 miles to Boone Rd. From there, turn right and head North into the desert. The closest Hotels are 20-40 miles away in Yucca Valley, Victorville or Apple Valley.
