2024 YAMAHA YXZ1000R With 6-Speed Automatic

 

2024 Yamaha YXZ1000R  The latest 2024 Yamaha YXZ1000R uses the same proven 998cc, three cylinder engine mated to an all new divorced, 6-speed transmission. Unlike the previous 5-speed tranny, this an auto shifting component that you can shift manually as well. Three modes will provide a different driving experience. Sport Shift allows you to bang through the gears using a set of paddles, Sport Auto offers higher shift points and a launch mode that can be used in 1st or 2nd gear. Full Auto will take care of all of the shifting for you like you would find in a Honda Talon. However this transmission is more compact, is much easier to work on and only has one clutch pack just like the original YXZ1000R. You will not find a sub transmission or a low range gear set. However, Yamaha tells us this system will be able to navigate the rockiest trails without a problem thanks to a first gear that is 40-percent lower than first in the previous YXZ’s. Furthermore, the engine will again be turbo ready and Yamahas latest GYTR turbo kit was developed with this machine in mind. Top speed without the turbo is 80 MPH.

  The stick shifting, YXZ loyalists won’t be disappointed as the three peddle, full manual 1000R is also available with the six speed transmission. There will not be a 2024 5-speed YXZ.

  As for the chassis, this machine will utilize the same framework, cockpit and suspension as the previous YXZ1000R. A-arms up front allow for 16.2 inches of travel while a trailing suspension set up moves 17 inches with Fox RC2 shocks providing complete control over hi/low and rebound dampening. While the YXZ is set up for hard aggressive driving, the shocks can be tuned for a super plush ride as well. 

 

Thankfully, the new auto shifting technology does not come with a price increase. The base model 1000R or SS will retail for $20,899 and the XT-R package will sell for $23,699. That’s actually a $1000 discount from 2023. The XT-R is only available in the SS configuration. Finally, both SS models also come with a new 1000 Watt charging system which is an increase from 472W.
