CODY BRADBURY’S #1X WORCS RS1

Cody Bradbury won the World Off-Road Championship Series 2018 Pro Stock UTV Championship in a RZR XP 1000 and switched to the RZR RS1 for his title defense this season. The season didn’t start well for Cody with a 15th at Buffalo Bill’s, but then he rebounded with a pair of seconds at the next two rounds. Nevada again struck the Pro Stock champ with another 15th at the Orleans Casino, but he again rallied back with a pair of wins and a fourth. He sits third in Pro Stock points with one round to go, four behind Beau Baron and 26 behind Corbin Leaverton. Here is what has been done to Bradbury’s Holz Racing RS1 to propel him to four podiums with two wins.

Bradbury is doing double duty in 2019, and he sits in third in the Pro Stock 1000 and Pro Turbo points races with two rounds to go. He also wears the #1X on his HRP RZR XP Turbo S. He has four podiums with one win in that RZR.

Bradbury uses most of the HRP RS1 Short-Course kit, including the front and rear torsion bars made of heat-treated 4340 steel with 2024 aluminum CNC’d link arms. The link arms have two-position linkage mounts—one is slightly stiffer for recreational riding, while the second is substantially stiffer.

HOLZ RACING RS1 MODS

Holz Racing Products (HRP) starts with its $4500 Deluxe RS1 race cage with Tig-welded, 1.75-inch 4130 chromoly tubes with aluminum roof, full doors, firewall, dash, ECU mount, lowered seat mount and number plates, along with window nets and a Sparco EVO seat. Bradbury also uses the HRP bolt-on short-course kit, which adds another $7,060. This kit arms the RS1 with heavy-duty trailing arms, front A-arms, front torsion bar and bumper, radius rods, tie-rods, and billet motor-mount kit. The kit also upgrades to the HRP rear torsion bar kit, chassis brace, trailing-arm guards, radius-rod plate, powder-coated nerf bars, and WORCS rear bumper. The HRP suspension components are standard-length upgrades with stock travel.

The HRP kit also includes a Joe’s steering wheel, pad and quick-connect hub with spacer, but Bradbury uses a DragonFire Racing steering-wheel hub with a Sparco steering wheel and EVO GRP Lite 8855 seat with Impact harness instead.

Bradbury’s RS1 engine, transmission, exhaust and CVT are stock, except for an HRP clutch tune. He even runs the stock-size 29-inch tires on his RS1.

Cody’s HRP RS1 has stock-length suspension arms for lower center of gravity and enhanced turning, but the ride quality and bottoming resistance are improved with Walker Evans 2.5 Velocity shocks. GBC tires are armed with Tire Blocks.

The rear of the #1X RS1 is armed with HRP trailing arms with roost flaps, radius rods and plate, and rear bumper, along with RCV axles.

WALKER EVANS RACING UPGRADES

Bradbury ditches the stock RS1 Walker Evans needle shocks for WER 2.5 Velocity piggyback shocks. The Velocity shocks have upgraded needle-valve technology, which provides multiple stages of Internal ByPass (IBP) without the complexity of reed-valve ports and inner/outer shock bodies on Fox Podium IBP shocks. Repositioned piggybacks also offer higher bottom-out resistance while retaining a smooth ride quality on chop. The stock RS1 shocks don’t have cross-over rings for true dual-rate spring ride quality, but the 2.5 Velocities do, and Walker Evans custom-tailors spring rates and valving for each application. They also have hard-anodized aluminum bodies, 7/8-inch shafts with Viton O-rings and steel FK spherical bearing ends that fit the RS1, XP1K and XP Turbos. They’re $899.99 each.

The HRP RS1 cockpit is sparse with an aluminum dash, stock speedometer and range selector, and Sparco steering wheel on a DFR hub. Cody doesn’t use a steering quickener.

Defending WORCS Pro Stock 1000 UTV champion Cody Bradbury switched to the RZR RS1 for 2019, and the Factory Polaris Racing pilot has two wins and two seconds heading into the WORCS SxS World Finals.

OTHER WORCS ARMOR

Cody protects his WER shocks and RCV axles with SealSavers shock and CV Savers. For the Glen Helen WORCS round, he fitted his KMC XD XS235 Grenade beadlock 14×7 rims ($217–$240 each online) with GBC Dirt Commander 29×9-14 tires armed with TireBlocks. The Factory Polaris Racing RS1 also has a ProLine wrap. The engine, exhaust, clutch, radiator, fans and brakes are stock.
