Has Arctic Cat built the next Wildcat Motor?

Arctic Cat unveiled its 2017 snowmobile line, including the first-ever production snow bike, the SVX 450, but its partnership with Yamaha on Arctic Cat’s 2017 9000 Series snowmobiles is even more interesting. Yamaha supplies the new C-TEC4 turbocharged triple that makes 180 horsepower and is 10 pounds lighter than the 177-horsepower Suzuki 1100 engine it replaces. This is the same engine Yamaha uses in its pure-sport YXZ1000R but with a CVT! Could it be that the UTV turbo wars are only beginning?

Could this 998cc turbocharged triple end up in the 2017 Wildcat 1000? It’s the same engine that the YXZ1000R sports but with a CVT attached, and it wouldn’t be hard to convert it to dual range. Better yet, how about a 2017 YXZ1000WR
