HISUN LOW VOLTAGE WARNING

HISUN LOW VOLTAGE WARNING

HISUN LOW VOLTAGE WARNING

Dear Sarge,

I have a 2019 HiSun EV1 that I use on our small farm here in Scotland. It’s not fast, but being a small farm, it takes us there and back! The problem I am having is the constant 4C53 error code that is low battery voltage. I always start with a full charge but within 5–6 miles I get the low battery voltage warning. I had my dealer replace all the batteries and that helped for a few months. But now the problem is back again. When the warning is showing, performance is greatly reduced. My dealer is stumped. And HiSun refuses to provide any answers, so I am hoping you can provide some answers for this frustrated Scot!

Pvt. Phlegm,

Even though you had the batteries replaced, your problem is still the batteries! If you have a load test done on your new batteries, I expect you will find there are some weak or dead cells mixed in with the good cells. This condition weakens the batteries when put under a load. The initial voltage will read OK but when worked hard, the voltage will quickly drop off and you get your low voltage warning. Replacing the batteries will NOT solve your problem. The problem is the quality of the batteries HiSun is providing. I would suggest you requisition a different brand of battery. There is also the possibility of upgrading the wet cell batteries to Li-ion. There used to be a source in the UK who is doing Li-on conversions called EV-Support in the UK. Contact Jeremy Bloomfield at 07736467455 or email him at [email protected]. With the website being http://www.ev-support.co.uk/. They claim a 150kg (331 lbs) weight reduction, higher performance due to higher voltage and up to a 10 yr battery life and all for the pricy sum of £4500 ($6115.00)! That, is going to take a lot of pay Boot! Dismissed!
