HONDA REVEALS 2023 PIONEER 1000 AND 1000-5 LINEUP
Honda’s recreation/utility Pioneer family was born in 2014 with the debut of the Pioneer 700, and the flagship Pioneer 1000 family followed the 500 in 2016 with the Dual Clutch Transmission that revolutionized the recreation/utility UTV and led to the sport Talon 1000 family. Having the work day or hunt interrupted by a broken CVT belt isn’t a possibility with the DCT Pioneer, and Honda has expanded the Pioneer 1000 family with four trim levels – EPS, Deluxe, Forest and Trail – in three- and six-seat configurations. As Honda releases 2023 Pioneer 1000 and 1000-5 color choices, MSRPs, and availability, we’re hoping that updates and upgrades the 2023 Talons receive will also make their way to Pioneers.
Specifically, the Talon’s new power-steering unit with a new return-to-center and assist mapping will benefit Pioneers, as will new ignition mapping that smooths the transition from acceleration and deceleration. Talon DCT’s Sport mode working in Low range would also benefit the flagship Pioneer workhorses.

The Pioneer 1000 Trail is equipped for fun two-track adventures, while the Pioneer 1000 Forest is outfitted for pursuing other outdoor interests such as hunting or fishing. The Pioneer 1000 Deluxe touts impressive versatility, and the Pioneer 1000 EPS is a great value-focused option. All four trim levels are offered in three-seat and five-seat configurations, the latter featuring Honda’s QuickFlip® seating arrangement. (Extending customers’ Pioneer 1000 options even more is the 2023 Pioneer 1000-6 Deluxe Crew, a six-seat version introduced last August.)

All trim levels get EPS, tilt steering wheels with paddle shifters, tumbler-sized cup holders, in-door cup holders, front bumpers, and pre-wired accessory power strips. Forest 1000s and 1000-5s get a full front bumper, while the others get standard bumpers. Forests and Deluxe 1000-5s get self-leveling rear suspension, while all Trails and Forests get a 4500-pound winch. All but EPSs sport a work light in the cargo bed and under-dash and seat storage.
Forests have a Honda Phantom Camo wrap, i-4WD, cabin light, and self-leveling rear shocks. Trails get the same features but trade self-leveling shocks for Fox Podium QS3 piggyback shocks all around.
