The Lucas Oil Off-Road National Racing Series had its first two rounds recently in Chandler, Arizona at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. The short-course tracks of this series are TT style with jumps and bumps, which provide spectators with a good view of the entire slam-bam racing action.
The UTV Production class was packed with 25 entries, 16 of which were Yamaha’s YXZ1000Rs. Brandon Author drove his YXZ to a win for Saturday’s race, with Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson making it to the podium too.
For Sunday’s race, Brandon Author again worked his way up to the front for another win. Paul OBrien finished a strong second in his YXZ and Broc Heger took third driving a Yamaha as well.
“The results of the opening rounds are just a glimpse of what to expect throughout the Lucas Oil’s production UTV class for the off-road national series,” said Donnie Luce, Yamaha’s Amateur ATV/Off-Road Racing Coordinator. “The YXZ1000R had an impressive debut last year with numerous wins and championships in the SoCal and Arizona regional series. With the popularity of the YXZ’s direct connection, pure-sport performance on the rise, along with Yamaha’s bLU cRU racing support program, we expect to carry this momentum at the national level as well this season.”
