WHAT IT IS: KLIM DAKAR PRO GLOVES
Klim Dakar Pro gloves are a refined version of the original. Goat-leather, stretch-woven construction and reduced finger seams are used to make the glove more comfortable and dexterous. The perforated palm and fingers improve airflow, a shield/goggle squeegee is bonded to the left forefinger, 5mm padding protects knuckles and the back of the hand, and the palm, fingers and thumb are lightly padded. Reflective 3M Scotchlite accents add visibility, and Mult-E-Touch screen functionality makes using phone and touchscreens easy with the gloves on. The gloves are $69.99 and are available in black or Cool Gray.
PERFORMANCE:
Gloves make driving UTVs more comfortable in any weather, and they are a must when it’s cool or cold, especially in machines without windshields. Genuine leather offers outstanding feel and wind protection, and the Klim Dakar Pro’s combination of perforated light goat-leather and stretch-woven construction provides great performance and comfort in a wide range of temperatures. They offer the feel, grip and wind protection that makes them excellent driving gloves and Mult-E-Touch functionality means you can use your phone or other touch screens without the hassle of stopping and removing the gloves. The padded backs give protection from rocks roosted your way from other machines, and the lightly padded palm cuts some shock and vibration from the steering wheel without detracting from your grip or feel. The small squeegee on the left glove’s forefinger really works for clearing shields and goggles, and it beats digging for a cloth or paper towel in wet conditions.
The large-size gloves we used for testing were sized like other high-quality gloves, so there’s no need to go up or down a size to get a correct fit. The fingers seemed a bit longer than on some larges, but it wasn’t a problem for us.
THE VERDICT:
Klim’s Dakar Pro glove is an excellent UTV driving glove for most conditions. You’ll want something more insulated and waterproof for extreme weather, but these are perfect any other time.
