KRISTEN MATLOCK AND POLARIS OVERALL BAJA 500 WINNERS

ON THE PODIUM: 52ND SCORE BAJA 500 UTVS

Only 113 teams lined up for the 52nd Score Baja 500, which was moved from Ensenada to San Felipe due to Covid-19 concerns, and the 36 UTV competitors faced a challenging, whooped-out course. Not only that, the temperature was 110 degrees on a 75-mile long dry lake. Kristen Matlock won the Pro UTV overall by 19 minutes, beating all the Turbos in her Polaris XP1000 with a 10:49:01.980. The Monster Energy Can-Am X3 Max Turbo of Matt Burroughs had to change a secondary clutch and later a belt, but the team made up lost time to win over Jason Murray in another X3 by almost 11 minutes, with Wayne Matlock third in a Polaris. Only 12 Turbos and 3 N/A1000s finished, with Kaden Wells second and Scott Bergen third. Mike Cafro won Pro Stock UTVs in a Polaris, and Mike Lesle (Pol) won Pro Unlimited UTVs over Eliott Watson (Hon).

Kristen Matlock’s RZR 1000 was the fastest UTV at the 52nd Score Baja 500, beating the first Turbo by almost 20 minutes on a super-rough course along the Sea of Cortez. She heads to the Baja 1000 with the Pro N/A points lead.
A three-man team took the Monster Matt Borroughs Maverick X3 to the Pro Turbo UTV victory after having to change a secondary clutch off of the start and a CVT belt after a 75-mile high-speed dry lake.
