NATHAN WOLFF AND CAN-AM TOP TURBO PROS AT MAO ROUND 5

ELI BIESCHKE AND YAMAHA TOP NA 1000 PROS AT MAO ROUND 5

MidAmerica Outdoors held its fifth round of the MAO $210,000 UTV Race Series, and the short-course racing drew 133 entries in 15 classes. Track conditions were a lot drier than the previous mud round, but Can-Ams again rose to the top of the Pro Turbos, taking the top five positions. Scott Champion, son if MAO Race Director Billy Champion, took the holeshot in the five-lap Pro Turbo main, but round four winner Nathan Wolff took over the lead on the second lap as Cody Martin dropped Champion to third. Martin held second until the last lap then dropped out. Wolff and Champion nabbed their second 1-2 of the series, while Hunter Davidson was third with a consistent 3-3.

Nathan Wolff scored his second Pro Turbo win, adding to his round-four win. He moves to fourth in points.

In Pro NA 1000s, there weren’t enough entries to split waves in the first heat. Kainan Baker led every lap of the first heat ahead of Shawn Hess (Hon) and Eli Bieschke (Yam). Baker turned a 02:27.900 on the last lap, but he got hit on the start of the second race and limped around the track with a bent trailing arm. Bieschke led every lap of the longer second moto, while Hess moved up from fourth to second and turned the fastest lap of the race, a 02:30.537, on the last lap. Bieschke took his first win of the season with Hess second overalll and Kylar Holcomb (Yam) third with a a 5-3.

Bieschke sits second in Pro NA 1000 points and scored maximum points on Kainan Baker with three rounds to go.

Kainan’s sister Alyanna Baker had a perfect 1-1 weekend in Expert NA 1000s for the win. Expert Turbos had fierce battles between Ryan Tewksbury, Richard Baird and Austin Braden, all in Can-Ams. Tewksbury won the first heat ahead of Boodrow Nicholson and Baird. Braden came back for the second-heat win, but Baird’s 3-2 was good for the overall ahead of Tewksbury’s 1-4 and Braden’s 5-1 for third. Tewksbury topped the Vet 40+ Turbos with another 1-1, and Chad Mayo took the Vet 40+ NA overall with a 1-2 to lead a Yamaha sweep with Jeff Hughes second and Randy Clifton third.

Alyanna Baker topped the Expert NA 1000 class with a 1-1 day.

The largest class was 170 Limited, and Kennedy Singleton took the overall with a 2-1 beating Dexter Warren’s 1-2. Lennox Smiley was third with a 3-3. However, the class has had a different winner every round, and Case Beeman leads series points ahead of winners Tanner Thompson, Warren, and Kennedy. RJ Trembley was perfect in 170 Mods with a 1-1 win, and newcomer Kaden Gramm went 1-1 in 170 Stock.

Scott Champion scored his second Pro Turbo podium and sits fifth in series points.
