WHAT IT IS:
Antigravity Batteries’ Micro-Start jump-starter/power-supply devices are well known for their compact size and impressive power. Even the cell-phone size $100 Micro-Start Sport can start UTVs, ATVs and some cars and trucks. Antigravity offers the larger XP-3 for $130 and the XP-1 for $160 that can start vehicles with V-8 engines. But, some large V-8 and V-10 gas engines and most large diesels call for even more power, so Antigravity offers the XP-10. It’s $210 and not as compact as the other models, but power shouldn’t be a problem no matter what you drive. It can also recharge phones and other devices. The kit includes jumper cables, a case, home and car chargers, and a USB cable with tips for several common personal electronic devices, including phones and 19-volt computers. There is no port for 16-volt Apple laptops.
At 9 x 3.2 x 1.2 inches and 18 ounces, the XP-10 is easy to carry, but it’s not exactly pocket-size, though extra power comes with its extra size. The XP-10 can provide 300 amps of starting current and has a 600-amp peak output.
The XP-10 claims to be able to start diesel vehicles. As it turned out, we found a Ford diesel pickup in need of a jump-start. The diesel’s battery was dead, unable to take a charge and required jump-starting. The XP-10 did it with no problem. The XP-10 also starts UTVs, ATVs, and gas-engine cars and trucks. The XP-10 has a charge indicator and a powerful flashlight built into its case.
Antigravity Batteries’ Micro-Start XP-10 is ideal for jump-starting every kind of vehicle that might be on hand on most UTV outings, including diesel trucks. It’s also handy for charging and powering phones, cameras, laptops and other electronics.
