Assault Industries has been designing products for the off-road vehicle industry for more than 20 years, and the company is also involved in aerospace, military, medical, auto, motorcycle and bicycle manufacturing with tube bending, sheet-metal fabrication, CNC machining and welding taking place at its Orange County, California, facility. Military-grade UTV products are part of Assault’s inventory, and the new B2 Bomber billet side mirrors are an evolution of the original Bomber UTV mirrors. They’re thinner and lighter than the $239.99 Bombers.
WHAT YOU GET:
In the box, wrapped in protective foam sheets, are two B2 Bomber billet mirrors, two anodized cage clamps (specify 1.5-, 1.75- or 2-inch) and installation instructions. Construction is 6061-T6 billet aluminum with military-grade black anodizing, and the front and back bezels come in many colors. Bezels and mirrors are replaceable should they be damaged, but B2s are built to fold out of harm’s way in tight spots. Bezels are raw aluminum but can be ordered in many colors to match your UTV.
With a 5mm Allen and 17mm open-end wrench, it took less than five minutes to mount the B2 Bombers on our RZR 900, and most of that time was spent adjusting the mirrors for the proper line of sight. The clamps have engraved Assault logos and cool pieces to hide and protect the twin Allen-head bolts. We threaded the B2s onto the clamps until the studs bottomed on the cage tubes, then backed off a tad before tightening the lock nut. We tightened the Al lens on the mirror bodies with the mirrors folded, then aligned each side.
The low-profile mirrors offer a crisp, clear view, and the lighter-weight construction of the B2s keeps them in place in rough terrain. The angular design and beveled sides look cool and prevent the mirrors from snagging on brush. They fold back easily when hitting immovable objects; however, they don’t fold forward if you hit something while in reverse.
If you do break one, B2 Bombers are totally rebuildable, plus they’re backed by a limited lifetime guarantee. We’re impressed with the looks, build quality and ultra-thin design of the B2 Bombers. They’re also easily adjustable on the fly, so you can angle them down to see both sides of your UTV when backing up to prevent flats or body damage. The B2s are tucked in more than the original Bombers, which have a longer mounting stud. With so many UTV owners mounting spare-tire racks, storage boxes, coolers or radiators behind the cabin, side mirrors are the way to go—and B2 Bombers go big.
