— Harbor Freight is a well-known source of good, affordable tools. For example, they offer 33 floor jacks with prices starting at $27.99. Their Pittsburgh Automotive 2-ton low-profile/long-reach steel heavy-duty floor jack got our attention because its maximum lift height is 23 3/4” inches, which is high enough to get the tires off the ground on long-travel sport UTVs like the RZR XP 1000. It costs just $139.99, which is far less than many jacks that don’t lift as high.

PERFORMANCE:

The long-reach jack’s 23 3/4-inch lift height means you don’t need wood blocks between the jack and most UTVs to get their wheels off the ground. A RZR XP 1000 with stock tires has to be raised 21 inches to get both fronts off the floor and 20 inches to lift the rears. Run taller tires and you’ll need more lift height. Anyone who has had blocks break or spit out while jacking a machine that weighs 1400 pounds or more will appreciate how a high-lift jack can prevent damage to your machine and injury to you. For safety, always use jack stands to support the machine you’re working on.

This jack’s long reach lets you reach lift points that may be well under your UTV, truck or trailer, and you can still easily operate the jack. Raising this jack is quick and easy thanks to the Rapid Pump system, which uses two pumps to get extra lift from each pump of the jack handle or foot pedal. With 2 tons of lifting capacity, the jack lifts UTVs effortlessly, and full-size pickups or loaded trailers are well within its lifting power. The dial release on the jack handle lets you lower the jack with precise control.

This jack did everything we wanted and more, and it’s a pleasure to work with thanks to the high-quality feel of its controls. The only things you may not like about this jack are that it is fairly large and heavy, 34.5 inches long and 93.3 pounds. If you don’t need a jack with nearly 2 feet of lift height, Harbor Freight has many more compact, less expensive jacks that will do the job for you.

THE VERDICT:

Harbor Freight’s Pittsburgh Automotive 2-ton low-profile/long-reach steel heavy-duty floor jack lifts most long-travel UTVs with ease and without the risks of using blocks with a jack, and it’s very reasonably priced.
