— Razorback Technology introduces a digital gauge that allows you to monitor the temperature of your CVT belt. They offer a few different options, but the bottom line is that their digital temp gauge gives you real-time temps of the belt. Heat is the number-one killer of CVT belts, and the Razorback gives you the opportunity to back out of the throttle before causing any damage or a complete failure.

The gauge uses infrared technology for instant and actual belt-temp readings, whereas most of the competition is measuring the air coming off of it. The gauge displays current, average and high temperatures on an anti-glare LCD screen with LED warning alerts. The gauge is designed to fit any 2 1/16-inch gauge pod and backed by a one-year warranty.

The 3.0 version gauge is designed and machined from solid stock aluminum for maximum durability. The new cabling allows both the sensor and the gauge to easily detach with waterproof connections. The sensor is waterproof as well.

The Razorback 3.0 install is as simple as it gets. You can either use a pretty standard 2 1/16-inch pod or drill a hole in the dash for gauge mounting, then run the wire lead back to the CVT belt cover. Drill a 1/2-inch hole in the inner cover and install the probe by double-nutting it in with a drop of Loctite.

The Razorback gauge system is designed to fit anything with a CVT clutch. UTV’s, ATV’s, snowmobiles and golf carts—if it’s got a clutch belt, this gauge can improve durability and reliability with real-time belt-temp monitoring.

Pretty much anyone who drives a CVT-equipped machine can benefit from this gauge. As long as you are willing to pay attention to it and adjust driving to keep belt temps in the safe range, you will see drastically longer belt life. We have found the gauge especially useful with higher-horsepower machines like the RZR XP 1000 and XP Turbos that are more prone to excessive heat and belt breakage. A trail machine will definitely benefit from being able to monitor belt temps, but it’s an absolute no-brainer for more aggressive duning and desert use.

Most other products in the market are analog, meaning slower reactions to heat and also picking up the ambient air temp of the clutch area. The Razorback picks up belt temp that is important information, allowing you to adjust your driving to control belt temp in real time. It provides the user with immediate, pertinent information you just have to pay attention and utilize it.

This will absolutely save belts, and as we know they are not cheap. Changing belts on the trail is never fun, and even worse when your buddies are all waiting on you. Three hundred bucks is cheap insurance, especially when a single belt can be around the $200 mark. The Razorback is probably the best on the market; get one now and rest assured knowing it will pay for itself in peace of mind as well as spare belts.
