— Testing a rechargeable trail lantern —

Antigravity’s Multi-Function Lantern is a compressible camp lantern, a compact flashlight, a wireless Bluetooth audio player and speakerphone. It’s $24.99, which is less than some single-purpose lanterns, flashlights and audio players.

When compressed, the lantern is 2 3/8 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter, which is about the size of a hamburger, and it functions as a flashlight. Twist the housing and it becomes 5 inches tall and works as a lantern.

If you’ve ever been in a camping situation intentionally or unexpectedly, you’ll remember how much you needed a flashlight and a lantern. The lantern is compact in compressed form and nearly unbreakable because it’s made of plastic and flexible plastic, which is a big plus. The Antigravity Multi-Function Lantern isn’t massively powerful, but it does a good job at both functions, and it has half- and full-bright modes to conserve battery life or provide more light. It charges fully from USB ports in four hours. There’s a handle on the lantern so it can be carried or hung. It will play music for eight hours on a full charge and can be used as a lantern while playing music, though battery life will be affected.

The lantern also functions as a hands-free Bluetooth speakerphone. You can answer calls from the lantern using its built-in microphone. Tell your friends about this feature so they don’t ban you from the cooler for talking to a lantern.

Space-saving items are great when you’re packing to camp, but they’re handy anywhere space is limited, like in your truck. Antigravity’s Multi-Function Lantern is well worth taking along, because it’s compact, does a good job at the things it does, and it’s very reasonably priced.
