ROCK PIRATES: PREMIER POLARIS OUTFITTER
As the country reopens after the COVID-19 lockdown, Polaris Adventures assures the riding public that it’s ready to “Keep on Adventuring.” To support the reopening of local businesses and provide a helpful guide to restaurants, lodging and activities nearby, Polaris Adventures has created an online listing of things to do locally, utilizing its expansive network of Outfitters across the U.S. Rock Pirates: Premier Polaris Outfitter is part of this curated collection of businesses and experiences that help bring adventures to life through a searchable database.
“Our Outfitters are the heartbeat of their communities, as well as our program,” Polaris Adventures’ Director Gray Rentz said. “It is our goal to support them through this pandemic, and for those who are ready to ‘Keep on Adventuring,’ we are ready and excited to welcome you back!”

Outfitters are taking extra precautions to protect adventurers, staff and the communities they serve with online reservations and payment options, online rental agreements and waiver completion via customers’ devices, employee-only check-in and check-out processes, and sanitized vehicles and equipment. As always, helmets, goggles, long-sleeved shirts and pants are required for rentals. Drivers must be at least 16 with a valid driver’s license.

SILVERTON ROCK PIRATES
Last October we reported on the Polaris Outfitter Red Rock Sedona in Arizona, and we’ve been waiting all winter and spring to experience the Alpine Loop with the Silverton Rock Pirates in southwest Colorado. While the Rock Pirates don’t have the massive fleet of Polaris off-road and Slingshot vehicles of Sedona ATV Rentals, what they do have is some of the most awesome, scenic, high-elevation riding in the 48 connected states. During the summer months, Rock Pirates leads RZR tours and rents RZRs, Generals and Rangers for self-guided rides. They conduct snowmobile tours as snow permits.

The Alpine Loop is a 63-mile scenic byway that winds its way through the southern Rockies via two mountain passes—Engineer Pass to the north and Cinnamon Pass to the south. Along the way, there are six 14,000-plus-foot mountains—Wetterhorn, Matterhorn, Uncompahgre, Redcloud, Handies and Sunshine—the historic towns of Lake City and Silverton, stunning alpine scenery, ghost towns, mines, high-alpine lakes, gulches and streams. Riders can choose between full-day and half-day self-guided or guided tours. Drive right from the Rock Pirates office to begin an adventure that’s known to be one of the most beautiful rides in the U.S. Watch the “Destination Polaris episode” (season 9, episode 8) to see how great this adventure really is: https://youtu.be/T4DKN4jH4Js.
Rock Pirates has RZR XP 4 1000s, General 1000s and Ranger Crew 1000s for rent, and two-hour rentals from $215 to $425 (Ranger Crews) including insurance, helmets, goggles, GPS unit/tablet and Spot Tracker. Half-day (four-hour) rentals are $315–$525, and all-day (eight hour) rates are $390–$599. The website for Rock Pirates also has recommendations for dining and other attractions, such as the Million-Dollar Highway and the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
