— The mid-September Orange County Sand Sports Super Show has long since signified the end of summer and the beginning of the “official sand-duning season.” It used to be a pretty even mix of ATVs, sand rails and camping equipment. The ATV has pretty much gone to the wayside, and the sand-rail showing is definitely dwindling, but the UTV has most definitely taken over with force. This year’s show was as big as it’s ever been, and the UTV presence was unreal. In a fair guess, we would say our beloved UTVs and related parts vendors accounted for 50–60 percent of the entire show.
In case you missed it, we’ve compiled a little buyer’s guide, or summarization, of the favorite new UTV products we got to check out!
ELKA SUSPENSION 3.0 STAGE 5 UTV SHOCKS
The guys from Elka Suspension were on hand showing off their new, massive, 3.0-inch-body Stage 5 UTV shocks. The platform is based on their already-proven High-Flow technology, with a redesigned dual-speed compression adjuster, as well as rebound and spring preload adjustments. Adjustable crossover rings allow for even further refinement, the most comfortable ride and preventing bottom-out. These shocks look absolutely sweet and are already winning races with Beau Baron and Matt Hancock in WORCS.
KRAFTWERKS PolarIs RZR XP SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM
Polaris sold thousands upon thousands of RZR XP 1000s before dropping the incredible XP Turbo on us. With nearly 50 more horsepower, the Turbo XP really put a hurt on the high-performance crowd that had already purchased and been modifying their XP 1000s. The Kraftwerks Supercharger gives this customer the ability to bolt on the same amount of horsepower as a Turbo XP and still utilize 91-octane pump gas.
The Kraftwerks kit features an ultra-efficient, compact Supercharger with a 12:1 step-up ratio with impeller speeds of 150,000 rpm for instantaneous power, throttle response and no turbo lag. The turnkey kit also includes a 2.5L plenum, an intercooler and piping, as well as larger injectors, a sealed belt cover and billet bypass valve. The base kit pushes 7.5 psi, producing 160 horsepower and 115 foot-pounds of torque to the crank. With optional pulley upgrades, you can bump that to 180 or even 210+ horsepower.
KC HILITES PRO 6 GRAVITY LED LIGHT BAR
KC Hilites had many different types of LED, HID and halogen lighting on display, but the one that really caught our eye was the modular 6-inch LED pod system called the Gravity Pro6. These 6-inch pod lights feature dual 10-watt LED chips with a high-quality, super-durable reflector and shell. The unique thing is that the
housings can connect to each other, creating anywhere from a two-light bar up to a nine-light setup depending on application. We saw five-,six- and seven-light top-bar setups that looked really good and will surely light up the night like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
Price: $1265 five-light setup for RZR
SPARKS RACING X-6 STAINLESS STEEL YXZ1000R EXHAUST
Curtis Sparks himself was on hand showcasing the new X-6 stainless steel exhaust system for the Yamaha YXZ1000R. Curtis claims this exhaust is perfect for any application, as it produces impressive power gains through the entire power curve. Beyond countless hours of testing on the dyno and track, special care has also been taken to ensure that it produces a sound you’ll love without overwhelming the cab with noise.
DYNOJET POWER VISION CX FLASH TUNER
Dynojet brings Polaris owners the ability to
flash Performance Tunes via the OEM diagnostic connector, eliminating the need to remove and send out the ECU. The Power Vision CX works on Polaris RZR, Ranger, Ace, Sportsman and General vehicles, and can also display vehicle data
channels in real time. The Dynojet Performance Tune features revised fueling for maximum power, spark timing for 91-octane fuel, raised rev and speed limits, and lower fan turn-on temps. It also allows for two-footed-driving brake use and revises the drive-by-wire throttle profiles.

The Kicker Audio big rig was set up showing off all the latest audio options. What caught our eye most (or ears, really) was the ground-shaking collaboration they have going with SSV Works. They are completely plug-and-play with super-quick install times, and they sounded absolutely amazing. The three- and five-speaker sets feature a 10-inch sub and 4- and 6.5-inch speakers. The rear corner bags leave your entire bed free and make great use of an area you never even thought about utilizing.

It is a handheld ECU tuning device with a touchscreen interface and is compatible with most Polaris, BRP and Yamaha vehicles. You can build huge power, as well as adjust all other sorts of parameters, and then still return to stock at any time.

The boys from Beard are back! With over 40 years of experience in the
seat industry, Levi Beard and his son are back at it with their new company, Hunter Safety Products. The company goal is to offer a lower price point with quality seats, quick turnaround time and great customer service. They are currently available with five color options and feature a sand strap and release strap. Color options and frills might be limited, but not quality with these guys at the wheel.
SKAT-TRAK 32” ULTRALIGHT MAVERICK X3 PADDLES
Seeing that this is the Sand Show, we definitely can’t leave out the paddle tires. Skat-Trak has been leading the paddle-tire market since the beginning, and from the looks of things, they aren’t slowing down any time soon. Extreme traction with extremely low rotational weight and optimum flotation are the key to duning performance and winning drag races. Their latest creation is every bit of that. The 32×13-14 Extreme paddle is perfect for the Maverick X3. Available in a 12- or 14-paddle configuration for stock or built motors, this massive paddle weighs in at only 19 pounds. The 32×13-14 Rough Buff fronts are buffed bead to bead and even drastically lighter than the rears.
$404.28, 12-paddle; $432.68, 14-paddle; $280.51, Rough Buff front
UTV WOLFPACK ALPHA 1 LONG-TRAVEL KIT
The best part of the Sand Show is running into old friends and seeing what kind of cool projects they’ve gotten into. The Merrell brothers were on hand showing of their new Wolfpack Alpha 1 long-travel kit for the RZR XP and XP Turbo. They have been testing and developing it for some time now, and have just recently brought it to market. Speaking of testing, they just flawlessly finished Vegas to Reno with it, which is the longest, toughest off-road race in the U.S.
The kit is 3 inches wider per side and features CAD design and Tig-welded chromoly construction. They also feature adjustable shock location and a super-strong Uni-Ball ball joint. The Wolfpack team uses Summers Brothers axles with this kit and offers them direct as a kit.

GLAZZKRAFT RZR XP GEN 2 BODY KIT W/ DOORS
The latest creation from our friends at GlazzKraft is a door-skin-kit
addition to the four-door body kit. The new door kit comes with and matches the body kit lines perfectly for a stellar look and superior
protection. The install on the doors is as simple as ever, as they actually utilize the stock door frames, hinges and latch. This new kit is clearly doing well, as we saw them on multiple different show and booth builds.
ASSAULT INDUSTRIES RADIUS RODS
Whether on the track or the trail, radius-rod failure is extremely common and can completely ruin your day.
Assault Industries was on hand showing them off in three different designs. The Barrel, Turret and High Clearance
radius rods from Assault all feature drastically improved strength and rigidity over OEM. All three are made from
high-grade, machined billet aluminum and use heavy-duty, adjustable chromoly heim joints. Check out none other than Pro 4 champ Rob Mac getting a closer look at the Assault-built race RZR.
FUEL OFF-ROAD NEW GRIPPER R/T TIRE
Fullerton Sand Sports was on hand showing off the new Fuel Off-Road Gripper R/T tire. The guys at XTC Power Products just finished the 600-mile Vegas to Reno race with this ultra-durable tire with zero flats. Pretty impressive, especially for a tire that’s designed for comfort and all-around use for strictly off-road racing. It is available in 32×10-15 at this time.
