UTV OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE FESTS
Arizona is not only the Grand Canyon State, it boasts more mountains (mostly volcanic) than any other state, and the Sonoran Desert is the home of the Arizona Peace Trail and majestic Saguaro cactus forests. Northern Arizona’s plateau also includes the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest, along with the beautiful White Mountains. Exploring these scenic areas by OHV is hugely popular, and Arizona has many premier aftermarket companies, including LoneStar Racing, TMW Off-road, Weller Racing, Shock Therapy, Rigid Industries, Sandcraft, SDHQ/Savage, and more. Arizona Off-road Promotions (AZOP) has put on bike, ATV and UTV Grand Prix races for years, and it branches out for 2021 with UTV Offroad Adventures. They’re putting on eight UTV off-road adventure fests and fun runs, plus the long-running White Mountain UTV Jamboree (aka Outlaw Trail Jamboree) through October.
UTV Action mag attended the Camp Bouse UTV Fest, and it was a lot of fun, with a Friday night ride, a high-speed 75-mile ride to Tank Pass and Bill Williams River, and a low-speed mountain and sand-wash ride to Brenda and back. There were also Poker Run stops on the rides, a corn-hole tournament, BBQ dinner and product raffle. The two guided rides on Saturday and Sunday showed off the local trails and awesome scenery with red-rock canyons, volcanic mountains, historic stops at mines and camps, and great vistas.
ARIZONA UTV FUN RUNS
We also attended the Peppersauce Fun Run around San Manuel with a Miner’s Friday night ride and daily guided rides on the Chiva Falls and Lemon Peel Loops. The headquarters and festivities were at Peppersauce Motorsports and Rentals in San Manuel, and rides left the historic copper-mining town and ventured into the Galiuro Mountains for 50-plus-mile loops.
Online registrations ended the Sunday before the fun run, and the $150 driver registration included guided rides, an event T-shirt, swag bag, two breakfasts, one dinner, one raffle ticket, the corn hole tournament and camping. Passengers cost $120 online. On-site registrations for all three days were $170 and $140, while one-day registrations were $75/$60, plus extra for meals, T-shirts, raffle tickets and poker hands.
Each fest or fun run is in a different region with unique guided trip rides and other fun activities, but the entry fees are the same for each fest or fun run. See www.utvoffroadadventures.com for more information on each event, including lodging, places to eat, local history and more. When the weather gets hot in Arizona, the fests and fun runs move to the high elevations up north.
