WHAT IT IS: VP RACING POWERWASH
VP Racing Fuels powers most of our favorite motorsports racing series, and VP has branched out to lubricate, protect, cool and even clean our favorite high-performance machines. We tested VP Racing’s Octanium octane booster in the February issue and listed a few of the company’s new products, but we left out VP Racing PowerWash, which is formulated in the USA by the “Mad Scientist” at VP Racing Fuels. VP Racing also has a complete line of R/C fuels, and the supply of PowerWash we received is the R/C formula. There is also a Moto Formula PowerWash.
VP PowerWash is specifically formulated for cleaning our powersports machines, right down to our R/C cars, trucks and UTVs. The dual-action detergent is formulated to dissolve dirt and mud and to suspend and remove grease and stains, all without streaking or spotting.
HOW IT COMES:
PowerWash is a concentrated detergent that comes in a gallon jug or a 32-ounce spray bottle. When refilling the 32-ounce bottle, pour in the PowerWash concentrate to the line indicated on the back label, then fill up with water. It’s about a 5-to-1 ratio of water to PowerWash.
WHO’S IT FOR:
Anyone who wants to keep his or her machine clean and shiny.
We’ve used PowerWash to clean our loan-pool UTVs and personal R/C cars, dirt bikes and Harley-Davidsons. PowerWash does a great job on caked-on dirt and mud, and the spray nozzle can be adjusted to blast away oil and grease from engine cases. We also used a brush to remove old and deep grease deposits. A 32-ounce bottle is good for washing two full-sized UTVs, then it’s time to refill. It rinses off easily and doesn’t leave residue, streaks, or spots on plastic or painted surfaces.
We’ve tried many cleaning products and power washes over the years, and VP Racing PowerWash is among the best we’ve used. It’s effective on dirt, mud, oil and grease, and it rinses off easily. For really tough oil stains, you can increase its cleaning power by reducing dilution with water. For a really shiny UTV, you can apply VP Racing’s Silicone Detailer ($9.99), which is formulated to provide a slick finish that resists future dirt and dust.
