WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF “STREET LEGAL”?

Dear Sarge,

I live in Michigan and want to license my Honda Pioneer 520 for the street to make it easier to get from one trail to another w/o having to ride the side of the road and the ditches. I can’t find anybody who has the definitive answer to my question of what modifications are needed to make my Pioneer street legal here in Michigan. What is the definition of “street legal”?

Boot, in this day and age, why you can not find the information to turn your Zooter into a street legal vehicle in Michigan is just not fathomable! I found the State of Michigan pages for licensing and vehicle assembling in seconds! Maybe that is why you are a green recruit, and I am a Sargent! For starters Boot, check out the information that this fine rag has already disseminated, here from 2020: https://utvactionmag.com/street-legalize-your-utv/ and this article from 2018: https://utvactionmag.com/how-to-street-legalize-your-utv/. Now you need to assemble your street legal Zooter per Michigan law, here: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-96435_1587_1588-25476–,00.html. The you need the Michigan re-titling information page, here: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-96435_15242-34425–,00.html. Assuming you can follow the instructions and information the above links that I have provided, you can certainly assemble and re-title your Zooter as a street legal vehicle. I expect you to complete this task just like your MCRE. Fail and you will be humping till your blisters have blisters! Dismissed!
