For 15 years, West Virginia’s Hatfield-McCoy Trail System and the town of Gilbert have welcomed around 2500 jamboree participants and 2500 regional spectators to National Trailfest, a five-day fall and family UTV/ATV festival celebrating one of the nation’s finest and largest OHV trail systems.

National Trailfest will be held October 10th-14th with registration and festivities at the Larry Joe Harless Community Center (LJHCC). The Trailfest Package includes Mud Pit, Drags, Trailfest T-shirt, Poker and Dice Runs, Mud Run for Cash, Scavenger Hunt, Casino Night, Demo Rides, UTV Parade and a raffle ticket. Adults permits are $50, while children 12 and under are $40. Those without a Hatfield-McCoy annual permit will need the $35 event permit, and a meal package is $60 per person.

There is plenty of camping on HMT trails, and the website has area lodging information.

Gilbert directly accesses Rockhouse and Devil Anse Trail Systems, and National Trailfest has daily open riding on all HMT trails from 8:00AM or 9:00AM-7:00PM. There are also all-day manufacturer and sponsor Demo Rides and Vendor Expo every day of Trailfest. Thursday hosts the Gilbert Community Scavenger Hunt starting at 9:00AM, the Obstacle Course and Drags at Activity Area 1 starting at 7:00PM, Vegas Casino Night and Auction starting at 8:00PM and a Wheelie Contest at 8:00PM.

Hatfield-McCoy Trails were formed with community support, so towns on the eight HMT trail systems are very OHV friendly.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday start with a Country Breakfast at 7:30AM, and Friday and Saturday feature the all-day Annual Fall Festival. Saturday hosts the Dice Run, and Sunday has the Poker Run; both require riding trails to collect five ribbons, and ribbons are traded for dice throws or poker cards, with the best roll or hand winning $100. Friday and Saturday hosts the Youth Obstacle Course for those 12 and under from noon to 4:00PM, along with a zip line, rock wall climbing and mechanical bull for all who dare.

Friday also has a Kids Zone with inflatables 4:00-10:00PM, and a dinner at the LJHCC from 4:30PM to 6:30PM followed by a raffle, prizes and live music. Also Friday has more Obstacle Course and Drag racing starting at 7:00PM, plus UTV/ATV Barrel Racing. After daily trail rides and demos, Saturday hosts the Honda BBQ (free to the first 300 visiting the Honda booth) and jamboree dinner, Grand Prizes and Raffle, UTV/ATV Costume Parade, ATV/UTV Tug-o-War, Trophy presentations and John King concert.

Major manufacturer support means getting to demo the latest and greatest UTVs and ATVs.

Sunday hosts a Veterans #308 SxS Grand Raffle drawing at 10:00AM, so one lucky winner is leaving Trailfest with a new UTV! There will also be a battery-operated Youth race starting at noon. Monday is open trail riding wrap-up day.
