AVE RACING POWER TOUR UTV FAMILY ADVENTURES AND OHV-DURO RIDES

Ave Racing has updated its UTV Pure Series Desert Racing, OHV-Duro, and Power Tour Family Adventure events for the remainder of 2020. Although this weekend’s Power Tour #1 has been postponed, the first OHV-Duro UTV Skills Event is scheduled to start at 10:00AM on July 11th, with the second round scheduled for October 16-17th and the third round set for December 19th. Power Tour 2 is set for September 5th, and Power Tour 3 is to be held December 12th. All Ave Racing events are held at the Bar-B’s Ranch south of California City (go straight on Proctor at the California City Boulevard/Rands-Mojave Road intersection to 138th and go right).

Besides desert races, Ave/BP Racing is putting on guided Power Tour Family Adventures and OHV-Duros, which are GPS navigation rides.

OHV-Duros are not races, they are GPS-based enduros requiring navigation and driving skills. There are classes for all types of OHVs, and each will be at least 100 miles in length. There are several secret timed stages along each course, with timing scored to 1000th of a second for class and overall awards. Free camping from Friday to Sunday is included for all entrants.

While visitors to Cal City OHV area have to buy a pass, Bar-B’s Ranch is private property.

Power Tours are family events with guides and radio/cell communications. Guides will show participants Jawbone Canyon, Burro-Schmidt Tunnel, the Great California Aqueduct system, the strange but beautiful Trona Pinnacles, the H-15 Memorial, the Husky Monument, plus places like Lone Pine and Mount Whitney’s (the tallest mountain in the United States) portal, the Eastern County Desert, Death Valley, Scotty’s Castle, and many places in between. They are also working on a 300-mile ride to the Colorado River. Tours are 50 to 300 miles and entries are $125, including catered lunches.

Pure Desert races are held during the day in winter and night during the hotter months.

In addition, Ave Racing has four Pure Series UTV desert races beginning with the “240,” a four-hour race starting at 6:00PM on July 25th. The Pure 270 starts at 8:00PM on August 22nd for a fun 4.5-hour night race. October 3rd’s 300 is a five-hour race starting at 9:00AM, and the November 7th final is a double-points six-hour race starting at 10:00AM. Sportsman UTV entries are $305 and Pro UTVs are $505 including transponders and insurance, and FUTVI memberships are $30. Youth UTV entries are $100.

Also, Ave/BP Racing will hold the Cal-City Gran prix for UTVs, ATVs and dirt bikes on December 5th. Races are one hour (amateurs/experts), 1.5 hours (Pro bikes/ATVs) and two hours long for six UTV classes. Entries start at $55.
