WHERE TO RIDE AND RACE YOUR UTV: BENT ELBOW POKER RUN
Silverton, Colorado, is a motorsports mecca and an ultra-friendly OHV community, and the surrounding San Juan Range of the Rocky Mountains offers spectacular views and UTV riding. On August 14-16, 2020, the Bent Elbow Hotel, Restaurant and Old-Time Saloon is putting on a UTV Poker Run in the San Juan Range of the great Rocky Mountains in southwest Colorado.
The Bent Elbow is located in the historic gold and silver mining town of Silverton, Colorado, and takes you back in time to the wild era when Silverton was brawling and rowdy with its round-the-clock gambling, drinking and dance hall girls. Silverton is a slice of heaven during each season of the year, and August is a great time to escape the lowland summer heat with highs in the ’70s in town and cooler than that at elevation.
The Bent Elbow Poker Run will have registration in the Bent Elbow parking lot on Friday the 14th from 8:00AM to 8:00PM. Registration is $75 per person and includes a free T-shirt, and registration is only on Friday. On Saturday the 15th, participants leave on their own schedule starting at 8:00AM. The route goes up #2 trail to Eureka, where the poker run begins. Ride to Animas Forks, California Pass, Upper Ross Basin and Corkscrew Gulch to pick your other four cards. Return to the Bent Elbow by 6:00PM to turn in your cards. Sunday the 16th is the awards ceremony from 10:00AM to Noon with cash prizes and more.
Rooms start at $142, but there is plenty of camping and RV parks around.
