Good news; “Hatfield-McCoy Trails to reopen on May 21st”. Escape to the high-octane Bearwallow, Buffalo Mountain, Devil Anse, Indian Ridge, Pinnacle Creek, Rock House, Pocahontas and Warrior trail systems!
Hatfield-McCoy Trails has 700 miles of OHV trails across West Virginia, and the trail mileage is about to increase to 820 miles as two new trail systems open this year. Work resumes on the all-new Cabwaylingo in the Cabwaylingo State Forest west of Logan, so it is flanked by Buffalo Mountain to the south and Bearwallow to the east. Work also resumes on Ivy Branch so it can reopen with 60 miles of trails. Being a favorite of full-sized 4x4s, existing Ivy Branch trails are plenty wide for UTVs, but two-thirds of the original trails are rated most difficult (black diamond and double diamond), with only eight-percent rated easy and 28-percent rated more difficult. New trails are being constructed to make Ivy Branch more UTV- and ATV-friendly, and the total will be around 60 miles. Two new trail systems is a great way for HMT to celebrate its 20th year! In addition, Kawasaki will hold a New Machine Demo’s in the area so riders can test out the latest from Team Green.
Hatfield-McCoy says, “Out of an abundance of caution, our trailhead facilities will be closed, but our parking areas will still be open to receive your vehicles and trailers. Many area lodging providers are now open and taking reservations and area shops, restaurants and attractions are reopening daily.”
