WHERE TO RIDE AND RACE YOUR UTV: HCR SXS ADVENTURE RALLY NOVEMBER 12-14 2020
MOAB RALLY ON THE ROCKS AND WINDROCK FALL JAM CANCELLED
The bad news is that the 10th-annual Discount Tire Rally On The Rocks at Moab, Utah, is cancelled for 2020, and so is Windrock Park’s Fall Jam, which was slated for October 15-17th. The good news is that Moab’s famous slick OHV trails are open, so those that have made reservations for the event can still go there and experience the challenging trails and breath-taking scenery. The same goes for those that made reservations for Windrock’s Fall Jam; the trail system, campground, general store and other amenities are wide open for small groups to come enjoy Tennessee’s hill country, forests and spectacular views.
See letters from the Rally On The Rocks Crew and Windrock Park below, and to check out the HCR Racing SxS Adventure Rally set for November 12-14, 2020. UTV Action Magazine has been to every SxS Adventure Rally, and we have yet to experience all of the guided trail rides at Sand Hollow State Park. This year, Kawasaki joins the Adventure Rally and will be demoing the 2020 (and possibly 2021) Teryx KRX1000 models, which were awarded UTV Action’s UTV of the Year. So far, four major manufacturers have signed up for demo rides and displays, and local dealers and aftermarket companies will also demo their products and donate swag for the grand raffle.
2020 Rally on the Rocks is canceled but our sister rally is not being affected in Hurricane, UT at Sand Hollow State Park Nov 12-14.
Attention all Discount Tire Rally on the Rocks Participants and Vendors:
It is with heavy heart that we have been forced to succumb to the world’s craziness and have to cancel the 2020 rally on September 8-12. When this craziness all started our first thoughts were to push forward and re-schedule rather than cancel, which we tried to do.
There are many factors at play in this decision, first being the increasing Covid situation and all the big event limitations that come along with it to keep participants and staff safe. Second is the ability to get our permit, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get our permit and the dislike for SXS/UTV’s in Moab is ever present.
Our hope is that all the craziness will be behind us and we look forward to 2021.
As an avid off-road group our mentality is to push forward and not back down or quit EVER. These circumstances are new and unchartered territory for us and became too much for us to overcome this year.
That being said, we are going to go to work to secure our permit for 2021 on May 11-15.
We thank all of you for your support and hope you and your families can stay safe in the coming months. Also we would like to thank Utah’s Grand County Events Council and the Grand County Sheriffs department for their support.
All entries and vendor payments will be refunded within the next week.
Rally on the Rocks Family
In past years, the Camp Chef crew has donated the griddles used to prepare breakfasts before rides to the Grand Raffle, held after a BBQ dinner sponsored by Yamaha Outdoors on the last day of the event. Last year, HCR Racing donated a complete HCR Long-Travel Kit as the grand raffle grand prize. CST gave away several sets of tires, and Yamaha, Arctic Cat/Textron, D&P Performance, HCR Racing, Daystar, PCI Race Radios, Rugged Radios, Dynojet, SuperATV, Walker Evans Racing, Dirtees, Jack Daddy, Xericross and more kicked in raffle swag. The rally also honors our Veterans during the jamboree, and vendors work on participants’ machines and install the many rally specials.
