WHERE TO RIDE AND RACE YOUR UTV: ROCKY MOUNTAIN ATV/UTV JAM SEPTEMBER 21-25

28TH ROCKY MOUNTAIN JAMBOREE IN RICHFIELD UTAH

One of Utah’s largest and oldest UTV/ATV Jamborees, 28th the Rocky Mountain UTV/ATV Jamboree is a five-day festival with 83 guided rides! The Richfield City Park hosts the Rocky Mountain Jamboree, and the rides are spread all over the Paiute Trail System, Fishlake National Forest, BLM lands and the Wasatch Plateau. With so many rides, rally participants can choose themed rides with lots of local history and rides specifically for 50-inch, 60-inch or wider UTVs with skill levels from Beginner to Advanced. Many of the guided rides are also used by last month’s Paiute Trail UTV Jam hosted by Marysvale. Some require trailering to the trailhead, but most leave right from the Richfield City Park.

The Rocky Mountain Jamboree has rides for all types of wheelers and even bikes, with skill levels from Beginner to Advanced and may rides for machines 50 inches or less wide.

All 83 rides showcase Utah’s natural beauty and awesome Paiute Trails in the Tushar and Pahvant ranges. Monday rides include five 50-inch-only trails – Rock Canyon, Bear Valley, Zip A Dee Doo, Kanosh, and Gooseberry North – with two requiring trailering. The other nine are for any-width UTV or ATV. Tuesday features the “Mountain Man” ride, which is a marathon ride with camping on the 50-inch trail, along with 11 other 50-inch rides, of which six require trailering. Take the Butch Cassidy trailered ride to Circleville, the boyhood home of the famous outlaw, and explore the area he used as hideouts. Tuesday also features the Spare Ribs BBQ and Coke Classic rides, along with high-mountain adventures Ring Mt. Terrill, Soaring with Eagles, and Beaver Mountain.

While all the RMJ rides feature Utah’s premiere trail system and majestic mountains, many have special destinations that are fun for the whole family.

Wednesday has 10 50-inch rides including Casto Canyon between Panguitch and the Bryce Canyon National Park and a 60-inch ride. For couples, there are also the Shop Till You Drop, Hot Wings and Anderson Dairy rides. There are also six rides for all machines with being trailered. Thursday, the Chief Arapeen ride honors the Ute chief who commanded the area when the Mormon pioneers arrived in 1850, and it’s an advanced ride for 50-inch machines. There are 18 rides in all with 10 50-inch and 9 any-width trails; theme rides include Couple’s Special, Lady’s Day, Canyon of Gold, Scones at Sunset, and Mayor’s Adventure. All but five require trailering.

Ride to stunning destinations well above treelike and even see mountain goats in the Pahvent and Tushar Mountains.

Friday, check out Chief Walkara’s Special ride for all widths; it takes you along the Pahvant Range on trails used by the Ute war chief and offers 85 miles of spectacular views. Or go for BBQ ribs or a great burger at the Karooshum Cafe on an 80-mile ride across Cove Mountain. The Hoover ride is also a great food destination ride to Marysvale’s Hoovers restaurant, and Friday is famous for crab legs. This is a 50-mile beginner’s ride. Or go for The Silver King ride, which utilizes the Max Reid 50-inch trail portion of the #01 Paiute Trail and starts at the Fremont Indian State Park. This 55-mile Advanced ride visits the Silver King Mine, Kimberly Ghost Town, Mill Creek and Fish Creek and is spectacular.

Explore historic sites like the childhood home of Leroy Parker (aka Butch Cassidy), the Silver King Mine, and the Fremont Indian State Park on RMJ guided rides.

The 28th RMJ schedule includes Monday Opening Ceremonies with giveaways and Richfield CoC Dinner, Main Street Light Parade, daily prize drawings, Wednesday Free Bingo and Ice Cream, daily continental or full breakfasts, and the Friday Lion’s Club Dinner and Closing Ceremonies with giveaways. The jamboree costs $120 per person and includes five days of daily guides rides, Monday and Friday dinners, full breakfasts Tuesday and Friday, a Jamboree T-shirt, and entry to the prize drawings. For late registration, call Chad at (435) 893-0457.

If you don’t have Polaris’ Ride Command or GPS, buy a Paiute Trail or USFS map, and use one of the jamboree’s days for exploring on your own and maybe doing some fishing or gold panning.
