Sand enthusiasts gather in late July at the Oregon Dune National Recreation Area, which stretches from Coos Bay to Reedsport, and the latter is the headquarters for the annual sand jamboree known as “Dunefest.” The Reedsport Chamber of Commerce gets a special permit from the Umpqua National Forest for six days of duning, racing, camping, shopping, music, bonfires, family activities and OHV-fellowship during the fourth week in July.

Where else can you ride and race UTVs in the dunes and forests than at Dunefest?

Sand drags are held Wednesday through Saturday, when the Sand Outlaws UTVs and sand cars race into the night. Head-to-Head Short-Course Twin-Loop racing goes on from Wednesday through Saturday with five UTV classes and four ATV classes. Friday hosts the Show-n-Shine beauty contest with 19 classes. There are also ATC90 races, a Poker Run, Tire Toss, Night Rides, Saturday night concert with the Aerosmith Rocks Tribute Band, and an FMX freestyle show. There is also a daily Kids Riding Area, Treasure Hunt, Rock Climbing Wall and helicopter rides.

Win one of 19 Best-Of trophies and more than $500 in prizes at the Show n Shine.
