WHERE TO RIDE & RACE YOUR UTV: STURGIS OFF-ROAD RALLY

THIRD ANNUAL OFF-ROAD RALLY SEPTEMBER 11-13 2020

You’ve no doubt seen the TV commercials for Visit South Dakota featuring Governor Kristi Noem. We got short notice from the promoters that the Sturgis Off-Road Rally starts tomorrow with registration on Friday the 11th and UTV riding and racing on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th. News reports of last month’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally being a super-spreader of the Coronavirus have been greatly exaggerated, and there surely won’t be 400,000 people at the Off-Road Rally, which will be held at the Meade County Building on Ballpark Road in Sturgis, South Dakota 57785.

Past events have had obstacle-course races, but this year’s rally will have barrel races and pole bending.

Sponsored by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys, the third annual Sturgis Off-Road Rally will feature UTV self-guided rides with 3,000 miles of Black Hills USFS roads and trails, a Big Foot scavenger hunt, poker runs, barrel races, a Director’s Ride, Show n Shine and a social in Harley-Davidson Rally Plaza. The “Back to Normal” social and awards will be at 5:00PM on Sunday. Basic registration is $40 plus $25 per passenger, $10 per poker hand, and $20 for barrel racing and pole bending. For more info, call (605) 720-0800 or visit www.sturgissuperstore.com/product/sturgis-off-road-rally/.

Attendees will need to have your UTVs licensed, which happens Friday only. Bring your UTV title or bill of sale, and permits are only $1 per day. Permits allow travel on all roads and trails except interstate highways. For more info, call the Meade County Treasurer’s office at (605) 347-5871.
