WORLD OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES UTVS

N THE PODIUM: WORCS 2020 UTVS AT GLEN HELEN RACEWAY

World Off-Road Championship Series racers returned to Glen Helen Raceway after a summer break, and there were 186 UTV entires for round six of the WORCS season. Ronnie Anderson was on fire in Pro Stocks; he holeshot the second-wave start and had a clear track to run down the first wave, while Beau Baron tried to get around Davi Haagsma. Baron got the checkers first, but Anderson won on adjusted time. Ronnie Anderson won by 41 seconds over Baron, with Dylan Lemberg another 9 seconds back for an all-RS1 podium. In fact, Polaris dominated the Pro Stock top ten, with the first nine being RS1s.

Ronnie Anderson grabbed the lead of the second wave of Pro Stock 1000s, so he had clear track to hunt down the first wave.

In Pro Production Turbo, Corbin Leaverton shot into the lead and disappeared from the 16-car field, beating Beau Baron by 41 seconds, with Beau Judge (C-A) working through the pack to third. Leaverton, the defending Pro Stock champion, has won four of five Turbo rounds and leads Davi Haagsma (Pol) by 20. Following his win at Mesquite with a second in California, Baron took the Pro Stock points lead from Chris Johnson (Pol), 99-98, with Matt Hancock third.

Corbin Leaverton led the Pro Production Turbos from green to checkers, turing the fastest lap of the weekend, a 07:57.830, on his last lap. Anderson’s best Pro Stock lap was an 08:00.277, third-fastest behind Baron’s 07:57.662 turbo lap.

In amateur racing, Cayden MacCachren and Casey Sims put on great battles in both the 1000 Stock and Production 1000 UTVs; Sims led most of both races but MacCachren got by for both wins. Riley Snow was third in both races. Ethan Groom was Youth 600 Stock champion and second behind  Dallas Gonzalez in Youth 1000 Stock.

Cayden MacCachren won both the 1000 Stock and Production 1000 classes after long battles with Casey Sims.
