At its Cypress, California, headquarters, Yamaha Motor Corporation and Yamaha Racing celebrated its 2016 racing success of 11 championships and inducted nine Yamaha supported racers to its Wall of Champions. Yamaha Racing scored four road-racing motorcycle championships, three UTV off-road championships, two AMA-ATV national championships and two dirt-bike titles.

Yamaha presented plaques for its Wall of Champions to (from left) Chad Wienen (ATV-MX Pro), Bryce Prince Motoamerica Supersport 600), Garrett Gerloff (Motoamerica Supersport 1000), Josh Herrin (Motoamerica Superstock 1000), Cameron Beaubier (Motoamerica Superbike), Cooper Webb (AMA SX 250-West & MX 250), Corry Weller (TORC Pro Stock UTV), Dustin Nelson (LOORRS AZ & CA) and Walker Fowler GNCC XC1 ATV Pro).

Chad Wienen won his fifth consecutive AMA ATV-MX 450 Pro championship on his Wienen Motosports YFZ450R, and he won four rounds and finished second in the other eight. Not only that, he won 11 of 24 motos.

Corry Weller became the first woman to win a TORC (The Off-Road Championship) championship, as she won the 1000 Pro Stock UTV class.

Dustin Nelson won two 1000 Production UTV titles in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Regional Arizona and California series. Both Nelson and Weller drove the Yamaha YXZ1000R and won every round of those two series in the pure-sport UTV’s debut season.

Walker Fowler scored seven wins during the 2016 Grand National Cross-Country series to successfully defend his 2015 XC1 Pro ATV championship, where he also scored seven overall GNCC wins. In 2014, Walker missed out on the XC1 Pro title by one point. Yamaha dominated the 2016 GNCC ATV classes; counting Fowler’s Pro title,Yamaha racers won 20 championships.

Cooper Webb showed great grit in winning his second 250F West Supercross championship and following that up with the two-wheeler AMA outdoor motocross championship. In his last race on the stellar YZ250F, Webb beat the newly-crowned MX2 champion Jeffrey Herlings at the USGP at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
