Can-Am is taking UTV performance to yet another higher level for 2020 with the new 195-horsepower Maverick X3 Turbo RRs, more sport models and more powerful Defender recreation UTVs. Here’s what you need to know about all the new machines.

NEW 195-HP MAVERICK X3 TURBO RRs & 4-SEAT MAVERICK X3 MAX TURBO RRs

Can-Am’s new 195-horsepower Turbo RR-powered X3s are available as X ds, X rs, X mr (mud runner) and  X rc (rock crawler) models. Prices for two-seat Turbo RRs go from $24,999 for the X ds to $29,599 for the X rc. Four-seat X3 Max Turbo RRs are available in X ds, X rs and X mr trim, with prices ranging from $27,499 for the X3 Max X ds Turbo RR to $29,999 for the X3 Max X rs Turbo RR. All X3s are powered by turbocharged, three-cylinder, 900cc, 12-valve engines in various states of tune, and all have fully automatic transmissions. The boost from last year’s high of 172 horsepower to 195 is accomplished with a new, larger turbo, new pistons, a new less restrictive intake and bigger intercooler with increased cooling capacity. New CVT tuning is used to improve drive belt life.

Seventy-two-inch-wide X rs, X rc and X mr Turbo RR models have up to 22 inches of front travel and 24 inches of rear travel. The X rs Turbo RR comes with Fox RC2 shocks with adjustable high- and low-speed compression and rebound, new suspension settings provide an extra inch of ground clearance, new 30×9-14 front and 30×11-14 rear tires on new beadlock wheels, new 7.6-inch lighted instrument display and a new Hyper Silver, Intense Blue & Manta Green color choice in addition to Triple Black and Gold, Can-Am Red & Hyper Silver.

The 72-inch-wide X rc Turbo RR also gets the new instrument display, along with full doors, a cage with intrusion bars, arched A-arms, 32×10 Maxxis Liberty tires on new 15-inch beadlock wheels, 4500-pound winch and new Carbon Black and Orange painted bodywork.

The 72-inch-wide X mr Turbo RRs come with snorkeled engine and transmission intakes, Fox QS3 shocks, 30-inch ITP Cryptid tires on beadlock wheels and a 4500-pound winch.

The 64-inch-wide X ds Turbo RR has 20 inches of travel front and rear using Fox RC2 shocks.

172-HP MAVERICK X3 TURBO Rs & 4-SEAT MAVERICK X3 MAX TURBO Rs

The 172-horsepower two-seat Maverick X3 Turbo Rs are available in ds and rs trim. The ds is $20,999 and the rs is $22,499. Four-seat 172-horsepower X3 Max Turbo Rs are available as Max ds and Max rs models, with prices ranging from $23,699 for the X3 Max X ds Turbo R to $25,199 for the X3 Max X rs Turbo R. Turbo R models have 29-inch tires and up to 22 inches of front and rear travel using Fox 2.5 QS3 shocks.

120-HP MAVERICK X3 TURBOS

The 120-horsepower, two-seat Maverick X3 Turbos come in base, X mr and X rc trim packages with prices starting at $18,999. The four-seat Maverick X3 Max Turbo is $21,999. These 64-inch-wide machines have Fox QS3 shocks and offer 20 inches of front and rear suspension travel.

NEW 64” WIDE MAVERICK SPORT X XC & MAVERICK SPORT FAMILY

New for 2020, Can-Am adds a new 64-inch-wide Maverick Sport X xc (cross-country) machine to the Maverick Sport family. Like all Maverick Sports, it’s powered by a 100-horsepower, eight-valve, single-overhead-cam V-twin with a fully automatic transmission. Like the 64-inch-wide Sport X rc (rock crawler) and Sport X mr (mud runner), the new X xc has arched A-arms and Fox 2.5 QS3 shocks for 14.75 inches of front and rear travel. The 64-inch-wide models also come with a 7.6-inch digital instrument display.

Base, Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) and four-seat Maverick Sport Max DPS models are 60 inches wide. Base and DPS Sports have 11.5 inches of front suspension travel and 12 inches in the rear with preload-adjustable shocks. The four-seat Max DPS has 12.5 inches of front travel and 13 inches in the rear using Fox QS3 shocks. Prices start at $15,299 for the base model and go to $21,499 for the Sport X rc. The new X xc is $20,199.

50-INCH-WIDE MAVERICK TRAIL UTVs

Can-Am’s 50-inch-wide Maverick Trails are powered by 51-horsepower 800cc or 75-horsepower 976cc, single-overhead-cam, eight-valve V-twins. Double-A-arm front and rear suspension offer 10 inches of travel up front and 10.5 in the rear using spring preload-adjustable gas shocks. They’re available in base and Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) models, and prices range from $11,099 to $15,299. For 2020, the Trail DPS 1000 and Trail DPS 1000R are available in a new Triple Black color scheme.

COMMANDER RECREATION MACHINES

Commander recreation machines are available as two-seat and four-seat Commander Max models. They’re powered by 71-horsepower 800cc or 92-horsepower 976cc, single-overhead-cam, 8-valve V-twins. Commander models range from 58.6 to 61.2 inches wide with 10 inches of front and rear travel. These machines offer sporty performance and handling with tilting, dual-level beds that let these machines haul plenty of cargo and supplies. Base, DPS, XT and Limited trim levels are available with prices from $11,199 to $22,099. Stone Gray is a new color choice on 2020 Limited models.

NEW DEFENDER 6X6 HD 10 & DEFENDER UTILITY/RECREATION UTV FAMILY

New for 2020, the Defender 6×6 HD 10 joins improved performance, comfort and quietness with six-wheel traction. The 6×6’s 6-foot bed converts to a flat bed and can carry 1000 pounds of cargo, and the 6×6 can tow 3000 pounds. The Defender 6×6 HD 10 starts at $17,999.

2020 Defender HD 10s have 82 horsepower and 69 pound-feet of torque, and improvements reduce vibration. Updated CVT tuning, a new drive mode, a thicker firewall and a new muffler reduce noise. Suspension tuning changes make the ride smoother.

Defender utility/recreation machines are available in three-seat 1000cc HD10, 800cc HD8 and 500cc HD5 models in base, DPS, XT, XT Cab, X mr, XT-P and Mossy Oak Hunting trim levels with prices ranging from $10,299 to $21,999. Six-seat Defender Max models in base, DPS, XT, XT Cab, and Lone Star packages start at $13,199 and go to $26,899.
