Yamaha just gave UTV enthusiasts more ways to visually one-up their buddies on the trail and generate performance envy while they flaunt their special-edition models’ distinctive styling. The new YXZ1000R SS XT-R, Wolverine X2 and Wolverine X4 share rich-looking Titanium Bronze/Tactical Black painted bodywork, color-matched interiors, factory-installed Warn winches and performance tires—29-inch Maxxis Carnage 8-ply radials on true beadlocks on the YXZ and new 27-inch GBC Dirt Commanders on cast-aluminum wheels for the Wolverines.

THE PRICE OF EXCLUSIVITY

The XT-Rs are the most expensive YXZ and Wolverine models, but that only adds a protective layer of exclusivity for high rollers who want to have something that stands out in a crowd. Fortunately for regular folk, the XT-Rs aren’t too far beyond the lesser models in price, making the XT-R package a practical value buy. The Sport Shift YXZ1000R SS XT-R features a belt-less, gear-to-gear 5-speed transmission with automatic clutch and paddle shifting. The XT-R also includes centerline pod lights for enhanced illumination, a custom front grab bar with a heavy-duty Warn VRX 4500 winch and integrated in-cab switch, and a composite sun top, as well as all the Special Edition’s upgrades, including fully adjustable Fox 2.5 Podium RC2 shocks. It goes for $21,699, just a thousand more than the YXZ1000R SS SE. The 2020 YXZ1000R with fully manual, sequential stick-shift, 5-speed trans starts at $18,999.

WOLVERINE X2 AND X4

The new Wolverine X2 and X4 in  XT-R trim feature increased ground clearance, traction and durability, a Warn VRX 4500 winch, high-quality graphics and painted bodywork, and KYB piggyback shocks with fully adjustable spring preload, rebound, and high- and low-speed compression damping. The Wolverine X4 XT-R retains self-leveling rear shocks to provide a plush ride, as well as help maintain optimized ground clearance and ride height based on the terrain and cargo. The Wolverine X2 XT-R is $15,999, and the 2020 Wolverine X2 starts at $12,699. The Wolverine X4 XT-R goes for $18,149. Prices for the 2020 Wolverine X4 start at $16,099.
