— UTV Action helpful maintenance tips —

Keeping clean, fresh oil in your engine is cheap insurance against premature engine wear, especially with today’s high-revving, high-performance UTVs. We put our long-term YXZ1000R SS up on the rack to shoot a how-to for those who own YXZs. Please note that the instructions are identical for 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 YXZ1000R and SS models, so this will cover all of Yamaha’s high-performance UTVs!

STEP 12: Start the engine, letting it idle for a few seconds. Blip the throttle to 2000–3000 rpm three times to get the oil to circulate, then shut the engine off. Remove the dipstick and pour another 1.25 liters of fresh oil into the tank. Start the engine again, and let it run for 30–45 seconds. Then, shut it off and let it sit for a minute. Check the oil using the dipstick in the dry-sump tank and fill to the correct amount. ❏
