13 1000cc UTVs UNDER $15,000!
13 1000cc UTVs UNDER $15,000
Lots of UTVers would love the power, room, carrying capacity and features of a 1000cc machine but they’re put off by the price, because many 1000s are near or over $20,000. We scoured the 2020 lineups of the top UTV brands and found 13 1000cc UTVs under $15,000!
POLARIS RZR RS1
The RS1 is the only high-performance single-seat sport UTV, and the exciting power and handling of this 110-horsepower, 1340-pound, 64-inch-wide machine has made it a popular choice for racers. At $14,999, it’s also a great performance value and an exciting machine for play riding, thanks to the unique balance and exceptional visibility the singe-seat platform provides.
The RS1 is equipped with the front differential, primary clutch, secondary, clutch, CVT belt and transmission from the 168-horsepower RZR XP Turbo. The RZR Turbo-grade drivetrain provides extra reliability for aggressive driving. The RS-1’s dual-fan rear-mounted radiator adds cooling capacity and stops mud roosted from other vehicles from obstructing the radiator. The light, compact chassis features double-A-arm front suspension with Walker Evans 2.0 piggyback needle shocks and trailing-arm rear suspension with Walker Evans 2.5 remote-reservoir needle shocks. Polaris claims 21 inches of front and rear travel. Front and rear sway bars fight body roll. The RS1 gets a Sub-Zero four-point harness with padded shoulders that retains the ignition cut-out and seat-belt warning light if the lap belt is not attached. A special, stepped brake pedal is designed for one- or two-foot driving, like rally and Formula Drift drivers do. While the RZR XP 1000 goes into limp mode if you use too much brake and throttle at the same time, the RS1 is programed not to go into limp mode.

CAN-AM MAVERICK TRAIL 1000
The Maverick Trail 1000 is a 50-inch-wide sport machine powered by a 976cc, 8-valve V-twin with 75 horsepower. You can adjust the power delivery with the Sport and Eco throttle-map switches on the dash. A more highly tuned version of the same engine produces 100 horsepower in Can-Am’s Maverick Sport 1000R. The base Maverick Trail 1000 has steel wheels, unpainted bodywork and doesn’t have power steering, but it comes with full doors, engine braking and an unlockable rear differential that makes extremely tight turns easier. If you don’t mind spending a little more than $15K, the 2021 Maverick Trail 1000 DPS gets you variable-rate power steering, painted bodywork and 12-inch cast-aluminum wheels for $15,199.
The Maverick Trail 1000’s double-A-arm front and rear suspension offers 10 inches of travel up front and 10.5 in the rear using spring preload-adjustable gas shocks. The 4.5-inch instrument display moves with the tilt-adjustable steering wheel and provides speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip and hour meters, fuel, gear position, sport/eco mode, seat belt and 4×4 indicators, front and rear diff-lock indicators, diagnostics, clock, battery voltage, and engine temperature. POLARIS RANGER 1000, RANGER 1000 EPS AND RANGER 1000 PREMIUM
The Polaris Ranger 1000 is an all-new model for 2020 that replaces the Ranger XP 900, the all-time, top-selling utility UTV. The frame, seats, ergonomics and engine are new. It’s powered by a 999cc, single-overhead-cam, two-valve-per-cylinder inline twin with 61 horsepower and 55 pound-feet of torque. With peak torque 3000 rpm lower than the Ranger XP 900, the 1000 pulls hard without revving hard, which makes it feel more smooth and relaxed at the engine speeds recreation utility UTV drivers use more often. The all-new transmission’s clutching provides precise throttle response and very smooth engagement right off idle, just what you want on challenging trails and in precise maneuvers when doing chores. If you need a recreation utility machine with more top-end thrust, there’s the 82-horsepower Ranger XP 1000. The Ranger 1000 is all about smooth, strong power, not winning drag races.
The base Ranger 1000 has steel wheels, unpainted bodywork and no power steering. The Ranger 1000 EPS is $13,999 and has power steering, steel wheels and unpainted bodywork. The Ranger 1000 EPS Premium is $14,999 and comes with power steering, painted bodywork, a steel front bumper, an adjustable driver’s seat and cast-aluminum wheels. Prices for Polaris’ more powerful, more luxurious Ranger XP 1000 start at $16,899.

If you’re looking for a 1000cc sport utility UTV that approaches the performance of a Polaris General or Arctic Cat Havoc but you want to stay south of the $15,000 mark, you should consider Can-Am’s Commander 1000 DPS. Its 92-horsepower, 976cc V-twin and suspension with 10 inches of travel make it one of the original crossover UTVs. This machine has a roomy cabin that’s easy to enter and exit and an innovative tilting, dual-level cargo bed with a locking lower level. The Commander 1000 DPS is nicely equipped with electronic power steering that offers three assist levels, Can-Am’s Visco-Lok automatic-locking front differential and 27-inch Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires on 14-inch cast-aluminum wheels. TRACKER SVX1000
Made by Arctic Cat, Tracker’s 64-inch-wide SVX1000 sport utility UTV is mechanically identical to Arctic Cat’s impressive Havoc 1000. The $16,199 Havoc has more standard features than the $14,499 base SVX 1000, but both are powered by the same strong, responsive, 100-horsepower, inline twin-cylinder engine and both have double-arm front and rear suspension with spring preload-adjustable shocks for nearly 13 inches of travel. For $15,199, the SVX1000 Woodsman Edition includes TrueTimber Strata Camouflage bodywork and a Warn 40000pound winch.
The base SVX1000 also comes with an extended cab with 24 feet of storage space, power steering, bolstered bench seats for two, full doors, steel front brush guard, a customizable speed controller, an adjustable backlit LCD instrument display with on-board diagnostics, 12-volt DC outlet, a full-length polymer skid plate, front and rear sway bars, LED headlights, LED accent lights and 27-inch tires on 14-inch steel wheels. The SVX1000’s utility capabilities are as impressive as its sport performance. This machine can tow a ton, and its tilting bed can carry 600 pounds of cargo. The bed features Tracker’s Fast-N-Latch storage system. Tracker also offers Trail, Backcountry, Premium hard cab and Winter accessory packages for the SVX1000.

CFMOTO ZFORCE 950 SPORT
The CFMoto ZForce 950 Sport may not be called a 1000, but its 963cc, 79-horsepower V twin engine is within a few cc of many 1000s, and it’s capable of true liter-class performance. You can tune the engine performance to your driving style or terrain conditions with the standard/sport mode selector on the dash. The 950 Sport weighs just 1230 pounds dry, giving this machine a potent power-to-weight ratio. The CFMoto ZForce 950 Sport also comes with rock sliders, fully adjustable piggyback reservoir shocks, 14-inch cast-aluminum wheels, 27-inch CST tires, cutting-edge styling, a roof, 3000-pound winch, full skid plate, LED headlights, a multifunction instrument display with Bluetooth call indicator, 12-volt and USB power ports, and 2-inch hitch receiver—features you have to add to many sport UTVs.
